Inhorgenta Vintage Launches in 2027
Interest in valuable vintage items—once a niche market reserved for a select few—is now, in every sense, a structural trend that combines the fine craftsmanship of the past with, among other things, a growing awareness of sustainability and tangible investments. And here’s a new development announced for February 19–22, 2027, at Messe München: the debut of INHORGENTA VINTAGE, an exhibition and experiential space entirely dedicated to pre-owned timepieces, vintage fine jewelry, and historic pieces.
The initiative will take shape within the new Hall B0, a blend of commercial offerings, expert scientific consultation, and educational content that aims to become a European hub for vintage collecting starting in February 2027 (the event’s traditional spaces will retain their strictly B2B identity, reserved for industry professionals).
This deliberate logistical and strategic choice will open the event to a broader audience of collectors, enthusiasts, and private buyers seeking authentic and unique pieces, with the goal of creating a convergence of object culture, high-end commerce, and technical expertise. This spirit was emphasized by Stefanie Mändlein, director of INHORGENTA, who spoke about the project, saying: “Vintage and antique jewelry, as well as secondhand jewelry and watches, are synonymous with history, craftsmanship, and sustainability, in tune with the spirit of the times. With INHORGENTA VINTAGE, we are creating—for the first time—a space dedicated to this segment: a place where visitors can discover and purchase special pieces, as well as have their jewelry and watches appraised. At the same time, we are creating a curated platform where renowned dealers, collectors, and industry experts can meet and tap into new business opportunities.”
The event has already attracted participation from leading international companies. From Germany, major players such as Eppli, Roemer Jewels, Leeb Schmuck, Juwelier Der Goldschmidt, Juwelier Herwig Müller, and Sabine Füchter; the Netherlands will be represented by Huijbrechts; Italy will feature Art Deco Bijoux, Costruendo – Italian Vintage Jewellery, Distribuzione Preziosi d’Asta – Gioielleria Faelutti, E.L.A. Antichità, and Luise Gioielli.
The industry’s perspective confirms that the segment has moved beyond a mere trend to become a well-established pillar of the luxury sector, as Ferdinand B. Eppli, a member of the board of directors at the Eppli auction house, observes: “The pre-owned market is not a trend for us. For nearly 50 years, we have been dealing in high-quality secondhand jewelry and watches, long before vintage and secondhand items became an established part of the luxury market. […] “We are therefore even more pleased that INHORGENTA is now dedicating a section to antique, vintage, and secondhand items. For us, this is a strong confirmation of a trend we’ve believed in for a very long time.”
Ömer Kazanci, head of Roemer Jewels, then highlighted the heritage value of these items, stating: “At ROEMER, we specialize in designer vintage jewelry because, for us, it’s not a passing fad but a value that endures. Sustainable, modern, and sought after for decades, it is increasingly becoming a collector’s item and an investment—just like art, with the difference that this value can be worn.”
The event will focus on authentication services and scientific analysis. Among the main highlights is the presence of Heide Rezepa-Zabel—an art historian, gemologist, and familiar face from the TV show Bares für Rares—who will conduct appraisal and evaluation sessions on the jewelry brought in by visitors (by appointment only) and who emphasizes: “Vintage jewelry combines history, design, and masterful craftsmanship with extraordinary contemporary relevance. Especially in the case of historical jewelry, it is important to examine it carefully. Provenance, materials, craftsmanship, and condition determine quality and value. I am delighted that, with the new pavilion, INHORGENTA is dedicating a specific space to vintage jewelry.”
The highest technical standards in verifying the authenticity, provenance, and quality of gemstones and timepieces are guaranteed by a network of leading institutions and specialists—the DGemG (German Gemmological Association) with Tom Stephan; the DSEF (German Foundation for Gemstone Research), represented by Claudio Milisenda; the DGC (German Society for Chronometry), led by Josef M. Stadl; and Stefan Friesenegger, author and expert for the Deutscher Knigge-Rat in the watch and luxury goods sector, who is available to provide consulting services specifically for the watch industry.
