Vacheron Constantin.

Vacheron Constantin. The blue horizon of the new Overseas in white gold, an icon on the wrist

Fine watchmaking is a blend of cutting-edge engineering and stylistic codes that transcend the ages. Take the Overseas, one of the Maison’s most beloved collections—a direct descendant of the 1977 Model 222 and today the perfect fusion of sporty dynamism and formal sophistication.
It embodies the concept of a luxury watch adapted to the rhythms of modern life.
The collection is marked by milestones that reflect a constant pursuit of stylistic and mechanical innovation: In 1996, the first series debuted, featuring a bezel with distinctive engravings and a contoured case—elements that evoke the spirit of travel and exploration; In 2004, the second generation emphasized its sporty character by introducing a bracelet with links that echo the outline of the Maltese Cross—the brand’s historic symbol—and paving the way for the first grand complications; In 2016, the third series redesigned the entire collection with more harmonious lines, all-new in-house calibers (from chronographs to Dual Time models), and a revolutionary feature: the ability to swap straps and bracelets without tools.
In addition to traditional steel and gold, the current range incorporates cutting-edge materials such as titanium and platinum, and spans from simple time-only versions to those with intricate skeletonized designs.
Among the latest interpretations, a collector’s edition is the Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar, for which the Maison reinterprets the collection’s famous color signature by introducing a brand-new shade of blue for the dial—a lighter, more desaturated azure compared to the historic, saturated hue of 2016. The white gold case complements the matching calendar and moon phase discs while maintaining excellent readability of the astronomical and calendar displays.
Rounding out the timepiece’s features is an integrated white gold bracelet with micro-adjustment and two additional rubber straps (one white and one with a denim-effect finish).
Beating beneath the dial is the Caliber 1120 QP/1, a self-winding mechanical movement that reaffirms the Maison’s leadership in the field of ultra-thin complications: movement thickness 4.05 mm, total case thickness 8.1 mm, total number of components 276, and a calendar autonomy that guarantees no manual intervention until 2100 (including the calculation of leap years)
The sapphire crystal case back reveals the internal architecture and the exceptional hand-finished details, certified by the standards of Haute Horlogerie—Côtes de Genève and anglage—executed by hand on the bridges, and perlage on the mainplate. The 22-karat gold oscillating weight is embellished with an engraving depicting the compass rose, a technical and aesthetic emblem of the collection’s travel-inspired theme.
