Due storie, entrambe giapponesi, Seiko e Honda. Le due icone del Sol Levante si sono incontrate sotto il segno degli anni ’80 per dare vita ad una collaborazione alquanto particolare, il Seiko 5 Sports Field Series, un orologio celebrativo realizzato per i 45 anni dell’Honda MOTOCOMPO, il piccolo scooter monocilindrico riponibile nel bagagliaio della Honda City.
Della minimoto, il segnatempo, con funzioni di ore, minuti, secondi e data, riprende i valori distintivi reinterpretati attraverso la cassa Field da 36 mm; il quadrante giallo intenso con sezione centrale nera e logo HONDA; la scritta “AUTOMATIC” posizionata a ore 6 che rimanda al logo originale; la corona con la parola “TURN”, riferimento al design del rubinetto del carburante della MOTOCOMPO; la stampa rossa traslucida (visibile dal fondello) omaggio alla grafica che prevedeva un punto rosso sul logo quando la carrozzeria era gialla; il cinturino in nylon, ispirato al sistema di fissaggio della Motocompo nel bagagliaio della Honda City, con le diciture “INSERTION POINT” e “CARRYING POINT” (il punto da utilizzare per afferrare, sollevare o assicurare la moto durante il trasporto); e anche il packaging che rievoca le confezioni originali con cui veniva spedita la MOTOCOMPO.
Al suo interno il calibro automatico 4R36, con frequenza di 21.600 alternanze/ora, precisione di +45/-35 secondi al giorno, e riserva di carica di 41 ore.
Sul fondello, inoltre, l’incisione laser del numero di serie e la dicitura “Limited edition”.

Seiko Teams Up with Honda
Two stories, both Japanese: Seiko and Honda. These two icons of the Land of the Rising Sun came together in the spirit of the ’80s to create a rather unique collaboration—a commemorative watch, the Seiko 5 Sports Field Series, designed to mark the 45th anniversary of the Honda MOTOCOMPO, the small single-cylinder scooter that could be stowed in the trunk of a Honda City.
Drawing inspiration from the mini-motorcycle, the timepiece—featuring hours, minutes, seconds, and a date display—embodies its distinctive characteristics, reinterpreted through the 36-mm Field case, the vibrant yellow dial with a black center section and the HONDA logo, the “AUTOMATIC” inscription at the 6 o’clock position, which references the original logo; the crown bearing the word “TURN,” a nod to the design of the MOTOCOMPO’s fuel tap; the translucent red print (visible through the case back), a tribute to the original graphics that featured a red dot on the logo when the body was yellow; the nylon strap, inspired by the Motocompo’s mounting system in the Honda City’s trunk, which bears the inscriptions “INSERTION POINT” and “CARRYING POINT” (the point to use for gripping, lifting, or securing the motorcycle during transport); and even the packaging, which evokes the original boxes in which the MOTOCOMPO was shipped.
Inside is the 4R36 automatic movement, with a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, an accuracy of +45/-35 seconds per day, and a power reserve of 41 hours.
The case back features a laser-engraved serial number and the inscription “Limited edition.”
The Seiko 5 Sports Field Series MOTOCOMPO Limited Edition is produced in a limited run of 8,000 numbered pieces and will be available starting in September at Seiko Boutiques, authorized retailers worldwide, and on the e-commerce site www.seikoboutique.eu/it/it/.
