Singapore at the Center of the Global Jewelry Market with SIJE 2026

With over 460 exhibitors from 26 countries, the return of the World Diamond Congress after nearly four decades, and the debut of Singapore Diamond & Jewellery Week, Singapore is outlining a new strategy aimed at strengthening its position in the international trade of jewelry, diamonds, and high-end watches. The 2026 edition of the Singapore International Jewellery Expo (SIJE), scheduled for July 9–12 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center at Marina Bay Sands, represents a key milestone in this journey, marking the event’s most significant achievement in its twenty-one-year history.

The event’s growth goes beyond the already impressive numbers. The exhibition space exceeds 10,000 square meters, and organizers anticipate approximately 18,000 visitors, including industry professionals, international buyers, and the general public. But it is above all the new format that reflects the event’s evolution: for the first time, SIJE becomes one of the two pillars of Singapore Diamond & Jewellery Week, an initiative running from July 9 to 15 that offers a calendar of events spread throughout the city, with activities dedicated to both industry professionals and consumers.

Rounding out the program will be the 41st World Diamond Congress, scheduled for July 12–15. The congress, considered the leading international event dedicated to the diamond industry, returns to Singapore after thirty-eight years, bringing back to the city-state representatives from mining companies, producers, diamond exchanges, traders, trade associations, and the world’s leading distributors. This choice confirms Asia’s growing role in the sector’s international dynamics and strengthens Singapore’s position as a premier platform for trade and investment.

SIJE 2026 offers a comprehensive overview of the industry, bringing together fine jewelry, natural diamonds, rare gemstones, gold creations, contemporary collections, luxury timepieces, production technologies, and manufacturing machinery. International participation remains one of the event’s most significant features, with major delegations from Italy, Hong Kong, and Uzbekistan, alongside European and Asian exhibitors. The Italian Pavilion is promoted by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) with the support of Vicenzaoro, confirming Italian companies’ interest in one of the most dynamic markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

Among the initiatives highlighting this edition is the BuyerX program, developed to facilitate meetings between exhibitors and qualified buyers through a business-matching system and scheduled appointments. The goal is to create new business opportunities and foster international partnerships in a market that continues to show growth potential.

Alongside the commercial aspect, there is also a cultural dimension. The Diamond Exchange of Singapore’s pavilion features a replica of the Crown of Charles of Bourbon, reconstructed from the original 1732 drawings preserved at the State Archives of Naples. The crown, historically linked to the famous 41.5-carat violet diamond known as the “Perfect Color of Violet,” is one of the exhibition’s most striking features, offering visitors a connection between Europe’s historical heritage and contemporary manufacturing excellence.

During the opening ceremony, issues related to market and consumer protection also came to the fore. The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), the Singapore Jewelers’ Association (SJA), and the Singapore Pawnbrokers Association (SPA) issued a joint statement to draw attention to the use of the term “gold-wrapped jewelry,” also marketed as Gold-Wrapped Silver (GWS). The initiative stems from the need to ensure greater clarity in product presentation, especially at a time marked by record-high gold prices and growing demand for more affordable options, thereby helping to preserve consumer confidence and the reputation of the local market.

Also during the opening ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Singapore Jewellers’ Association and IEG Asia Pte Ltd. The agreement aims to strengthen SIJE’s international profile through new partnerships, investments, and joint initiatives, further promoting the event’s internationalization.

The positive outlook for the luxury market also supports this strategy. According to Statista’s analysis, the high-end jewelry segment in Singapore generated revenue of approximately 110 million U.S. dollars in 2023 and is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 2.19% through 2028. Even more significant is the luxury watch sector, which reached a value of approximately 1.39 billion dollars in 2024, with an estimated average annual growth rate of 2.73% through 2029. The expanding demand for high-end goods in Southeast Asia thus continues to offer new opportunities for international brands, making Singapore one of the region’s key commercial hubs.

Ilaria Cicero, CEO of IEG Asia, highlighted the significance of this development: “SIJE has always been much more than just an exhibition. It is the place where international jewelers, designers, manufacturers, collectors, buyers, and industry leaders come together to help shape the future of our industry. As the largest edition in our history and one of the two pillars of the first Singapore Diamond & Jewellery Week, SIJE 2026 reflects the international jewelry community’s continued confidence in Singapore as a prime gateway to the region.”

The manager then added: “These two pillars—SIJE 2026 and the 41st World Diamond Congress—mark a pivotal moment for both the event and Singapore’s jewelry industry. Together, they create an unprecedented platform for international business, innovation, and collaboration, while reinforcing our commitment to strengthening SIJE’s global profile and Singapore’s position as the region’s leading jewelry hub.”
