C’è un simbolo che accompagna la storia dell’Alta Gioielleria di Tiffany & Co., da oltre sessant’anni, e che continua a reinventarsi aggiungendo attrazione. È il Bird on a Rock, l’uccellino posato su una gemma diventato una delle immagini più riconoscibili della Maison che per il 2026 torna protagonista con una nuova interpretazione, realizzata in un unico esemplare e destinata a essere svelata durante la settimana dell’Haute Couture di Parigi.
Il suo nome è Legendary Bird: The Sapphire Edition e mette al centro l’incanto dello zaffiro perché il cuore della composizione è infatti il colore blu, quello di due pietre naturali provenienti dallo Sri Lanka, entrambe non trattate, una delle quali oltre i 34 carati. Intorno la natura sembra viva con piccoli uccelli in volo, petali che si schiudono e giochi di luce che trasformano il gioiello in una composizione tridimensionale.
Alta Gioielleria concentrata sulla capacità di creare movimento e profondità attraverso l’accostamento di materiali preziosissimi ma differenti, diamanti, opali neri, madreperla, rubini e perle che incontrano oro giallo e platino in una struttura molto complessa. L’ispirazione arriva dal mondo botanico e, in particolare, da un fiore immaginario che richiama insieme il croco e l’orchidea.
“Con questa creazione ho voluto evocare una natura in costante rinnovamento, modellata da micro-movimenti e da dettagli delicati e sfumati, che si rivelano solo a chi si prende il tempo di osservarla davvero”, afferma Nathalie Verdeille, Senior Vice President – Chief Artistic Officer, Jewelry and High Jewelry di Tiffany & Co. “Gli uccellini si librano sopra una composizione floreale in piena fioritura, a metà strada tra un croco e un’orchidea. Richiamano i colibrì, i più piccoli tra gli uccelli, attratti dal pistillo in zaffiro al centro del fiore.”
Anche i richiami alla storia della Maison sono numerosi. Le forme floreali rimandano alle celebri orchidee delle lampade Tiffany in vetro Favrile, mentre il Bird on a Rock conferma il proprio ruolo di icona senza tempo, reinterpretata ogni anno attraverso nuove combinazioni di pietre e lavorazioni.
Tiffany & Co. prosegue una tradizione che privilegia l’esclusività assoluta, ogni edizione della collezione Legendary Bird è realizzata come pezzo unico. Un approccio che rafforza il carattere collezionistico della linea e che trova nella Sapphire Edition una delle interpretazioni più scenografiche degli ultimi anni, destinata a diventare uno dei protagonisti della stagione parigina dell’Alta Gioielleria.
There is a symbol that has been part of Tiffany & Co.’s High Jewelry history for over sixty years and continues to reinvent itself, gaining new appeal. It is the Bird on a Rock—the little bird perched on a gemstone that has become one of the Maison’s most recognizable images—which returns to the spotlight in 2026 with a new interpretation, crafted as a one-of-a-kind piece and set to be unveiled during Paris Haute Couture Week.
It is called “Legendary Bird: The Sapphire Edition” and highlights the enchantment of the sapphire, as the heart of the design is, in fact, the color blue—that of two natural stones from Sri Lanka, both untreated, one of which weighs over 34 carats. All around, nature seems to come alive with small birds in flight, blooming petals, and plays of light that transform the jewel into a three-dimensional composition.
High Jewelry focused on the ability to create movement and depth through the combination of extremely precious yet distinct materials—diamonds, black opals, mother-of-pearl, rubies, and pearls—that come together with yellow gold and platinum in a highly complex structure. The inspiration comes from the botanical world and, in particular, from an imaginary flower that evokes both the crocus and the orchid.
“With this creation, I wanted to evoke a nature in constant renewal, shaped by micro-movements and delicate, nuanced details that reveal themselves only to those who take the time to truly observe it,” says Nathali Verdeille, Senior Vice President – Chief Artistic Officer, Jewelry and High Jewelry at Tiffany & Co. “The little birds hover above a floral arrangement in full bloom, halfway between a crocus and an orchid. They evoke hummingbirds—the smallest of birds—drawn to the sapphire pistil at the center of the flower.”
There are also numerous references to the Maison’s history. The floral forms echo the famous orchids of the Tiffany Favrile glass lamps, while the Bird on a Rock reaffirms its status as a timeless icon, reinterpreted each year through new combinations of gemstones and craftsmanship.
Tiffany & Co. continues a tradition that prioritizes absolute exclusivity; each piece in the Legendary Bird collection is crafted as a one-of-a-kind creation.
